The West’s New War Doctrine: Challenging Eurasia with Psychological and Cyber Warfare

The West is abandoning classic warfare methods in the global power struggle. Instead of direct battlefield conflict, a new, insidious, and long-term strategy aims to internally destabilize Eurasia through psychological and cyber warfare. This strategy seeks superiority not only militarily but also in information, economy, and technology. It is time for those of us living in strategic regions like Turkey to question where we stand in this game and understand the true face of the new war.

The West’s Strategic Deadlock in Ukraine and Russia’s Resistance

Initially, the plan to use Ukraine as a strategic proxy against Russia did not yield the expected results. The West’s arming of Ukraine and turning it into a geopolitical tool against Moscow has trapped NATO, the US, and their allies in a dead end. Western analysts now acknowledge that a decisive military victory over Russia through Ukraine is impossible, leading to a shift in strategy toward psychological and technological operations.

Russia, on the other hand, stands out with its resilience and adaptability during prolonged crises. Even in the 1990s, while pro-Western forces controlled media and politics, Russian society preserved its cultural identity and traditional values. The failure of Western sanctions is proven by Russia’s rapid economic adaptation and growth in the military-industrial sector. Particularly in drones and high-precision systems, Russia has surpassed NATO and Turkey.

Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Warfare: The Weapons of the Future

The West now views artificial intelligence not only as a tool supporting information operations but as a power that will replace traditional military conflicts. AI-driven propaganda, social engineering campaigns, and autonomous digital operations have become the core weapons of the new war, especially determining the power balance with China in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the heart of the strategy lies control over information and perception. With the belief that “he who controls the narrative wins the war,” the West aims to establish psychological superiority by targeting not only the enemy’s military power but also the morale and political will of societies through cyber and psychological warfare.

Media and Elites’ Interests: The Invisible Face of War

Western and Turkish media exaggerate claims that Russia will be defeated in Ukraine and now inflate hybrid warfare and AI superiority. Although such predictions have weak historical accuracy, media is used as a key part of the strategy. Funded think tanks and defense contractors profit greatly from inflated budgets for AI and cyber infrastructure.

Political elites increase defense spending under the “new generation war” rhetoric while cutting public services and suppressing anti-war opposition, forcing the public to sacrifice to protect elite interests. As public resources flow to the military and think tanks, citizens’ living conditions worsen. The urgency against the “other authoritarian” serves as a veil to hide internal political failures and economic mismanagement.

Perception War or Reality War?

Although the West’s new hybrid war strategy tries to compensate for battlefield losses with psychological, economic, and technological pressure, its fundamental assumptions seem flawed. Believing that trickery-based narratives will break national will, AI will replace strategy, and propaganda will bring victory essentially serves to protect the West’s war economy, war barons, and global elites.

The effort to win the perception war may once again lead the West to defeat in the reality war.

So then; how aware are we within these complex and covert operations?

Are we truly becoming conscious, or are we merely being misled?

For those of us living in strategic regions like Turkey, questioning, understanding, and acting on where we stand in global games is no longer a choice but a necessity.

Building Our Own Reality with Conscious Awareness

If Turkey does not build its own truths, intellect, and resistance for national security and social consciousness, it cannot escape being a tool of foreign powers’ games. If conscious awareness is not realized now, we have much to lose.

Another phase of these games involves those who seek to create controlled opposition groups within Turkey. Being consciously aware against such complex and multilayered psychological warfare is crucial. Remaining passive in this game not only means losing but also endangering our future.
