Challenges of Cognitive Warfare

 

A centuries-old plan aims to control humanity at the micro level, and this is being realized through a new bio-digital prison system.

 

Reduced to conspiracy theories and dismissed by those accused, the plan is proceeding unabated despite opposition. Under the mask of security, comfort and inclusiveness, humanity is preparing to adopt full surveillance.

** Age of Cognitive Warfare

Cognitive warfare is a contemporary method of warfare that aims to change people's thinking, behaviour and identity. The US Naval Institute has stated that advances in cognitive psychology and information communication technologies have made significant contributions to the development of this type of warfare. Cognitive warfare operations can be conducted through different methods and at different times. Thanks to new technologies, cognitive warfare can be conducted more effectively. According to the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, disciplines such as AI, cognitive sciences and neurotechnologies provide tools that advance methods of influencing the human mind.

** Creating a Collective Human Consciousness

The evolution of the Noosphere has been shaped by the size of human societies and the structure of technologised information networks. Governments and militaries around the world are trying to manage the flow of information while maintaining fidelity to democratic values and countering information warfare. But this is seen as a tactic of deception and manipulation. The rise of misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, identity theft, deepfakes and cyberattacks calls for tighter control of the digital public sphere. The UN and the World Economic Forum characterise this as a ‘multiple crisis’. Innovative tools such as AI, Central Bank Digital Currency, biometric monitoring and digital identity are put forward as solutions.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is creating a new transformation in the business world. It is expected to play a critical role in tackling global challenges, especially in the fight against insecurity, corruption and crime. However, this requires increased transparency, control, harmonisation and collective intelligence.

** Artificial Intelligence, Biometrics and Digital Identity Tools of Freedom or Tyranny?

In this century, digital participation has proved its importance by enabling people to become part of society. The Digital Revolution, also known as the Information Age or the Third Industrial Revolution, forced the world to transition from analogue and mechanical devices to digital technology. AI can be seen as the greatest invention and the greatest threat in history. Deep learning algorithms are used to identify, classify and predict patterns in large data sets. While AI is often developed by big tech firms and governments and sometimes used for killing, espionage and manipulation, technology leaders believe that AI can be used for the benefit of humanity. They argue that AI can help detect lethal weapons, diagnose life-threatening diseases, protect biodiversity and improve access to food and water.

** One Identity to Rule Them All

The UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals aim to support global digital transformation. In particular, SDG 16 requires all member states to provide legal identity, including birth registration, by 2030. SDG 1 recommends digital identities integrated with bank and mobile money accounts to expand social protection and reach eligible recipients. UNDP notes that digital legal identities are useful in areas such as disaster preparedness, energy sustainability and community empowerment. However, there are warnings that digital identities also pose identity dangers through security breaches and possible restrictive effects on travel, access to goods and services, privacy and access to public services. Despite the risks identified in the UN's ‘5 in 50’ campaign, 50 countries have digitised their identity programmes. Digital identities are among the serious risks to human rights in the context of technology.

** No More Papers, Only Your Face;

Biometric technologies such as facial recognition, iris and retinal scans, fingerprints, voice recognition, gestures, bodily implants, DNA matching and gait analysis are increasingly used to identify people. These technologies can also be used to influence people and market products or politicians. Facial recognition is recognised as one of the most common and risky biometric methods. It is widely used in police, border control, hospitals, shops, stadiums, airports and government buildings. Although digital identities are conveniently secure, they offer full surveillance by reducing human identity to data stored in the cloud. In countries such as India, China and Australia, people are reacting to digital identity schemes. Thus, biometric identification and digital identity technologies pose a potential threat to the rights to privacy and anonymity, but also risks being used for population control.

** A freer, more decentralised or more tightly controlled world;

The digital revolution may pose a threat to privacy and individuality. Governments and technology companies can exploit this for research, development and deployment purposes. Bio-digital surveillance technologies such as AI, digital identities, biometric systems, CBDC, IoT, Smart Meters and 5G could realise the technocratic vision of society described in 1945. According to technocrat Patrick Wood, technocrats aim for every individual to take an active role in society in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Modern bio-digital surveillance systems can serve as a modern Tower of Babel in achieving these goals. Supporters of AI, transhumanism and bio-digital surveillance use various techniques to manipulate people into certain mindsets.

** The Whole World is the Stage for War

Neuroscientist Dr Giordano warned in 2018 that the brain could be the battlefield in the 21st century. Propaganda pioneer Edward Bernays believed that mind control could be used to maintain public order. Bernays' concept of mind control could be applied to portable devices to influence thoughts and actions by spreading misleading information. As the mind wars continue, we have to make tough decisions to stand against the militarisation of our minds, resist technocratic tyrants and defend privacy under bio-digital surveillance.

While this article addresses critical issues that every individual who values the dignity and freedom of humanity should be aware of, it is not to create the illusion that the global elites and their collaborators scattered around the world are ‘invincible’, but rather to expose the fact that they will never achieve their goals against humanity, such as the ‘Great Reset’, unless people allow them to do so. Not allowing them will be the beginning of bad news for them.
